Achieving Excellence Timeline

Achieving Excellence Program: May 1–April 30

One-time Requirements: (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum)

• Become a chartered Inn and remain in good standing.
• Obtain an Employer Identification Number (EIN) (Federal Tax ID) and submit it to the national office.
• Submit a Group Tax Exemption Option form to the national office.
• Submit a copy of the Inn's approved bylaws to the national office.
• Report any law school affiliations to the national office.

Ongoing Requirements:

• Submit Programs: Submit Inn programs to the program library within 60 days of presentation. (Gold: two programs; Platinum: four programs)
• Maintain Roster: Inn Management System (IMS) Inns maintain current membership roster (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum)
• Submit News Item: Submit current Inn news items to the national office within 60 days. (Platinum)

June Deadlines:

• June 30—Update Inn leadership information for current Inn year. (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum)
  • Inns using the Inn Management System (IMS) update leadership information online.
  • Inns not using the Inn Management System must submit leadership information to the national office.
• June 30—Conduct Member Satisfaction Survey for prior Inn Year. (Platinum)
• June 30—Submit Mentoring Evaluation Process for prior Inn year. (Gold, Platinum)

October Deadline:

• October 1—Post meeting dates, locations, and program topics—minimum of six programs are required. (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum)
  • Inns using the Inn Management System (IMS) update online.
  • Inns not using the Inn Management System must submit to the national office.

November Deadlines

• November 15—Comply with IRS tax filing for year ending June 30. (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum)
• November 30—Hold New Member Orientation prior to first meeting of the Inn year. (Silver, Gold, Platinum)
• November 30—Inns not using the Inn Management System must submit a membership roster to the national office. (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum)
• November 30—Submit Annual Operating Budget. (Gold, Platinum)

January Deadline

• January 31—Pay national dues in full. (Silver, Gold, Platinum)

April Deadlines

• April 30—Leadership Succession Plan: Describe and implement an Inn leadership succession plan. (Gold, Platinum)
• April 30—Inn of Court Handbook and Website: Maintain an Inn Handbook and/or Website. (Silver, Gold, Platinum)
  • Inn Handbook in printed or electronic format
  • Inn Website hosted by national office or other
• April 30—Alumni, Emeritus, and Honorary Member Engagement: Describe how your Inn engages its Alumni, Emeritus, and Honorary members. (Gold, Platinum)
• April 30—Diversity Policy: Describe how your Inn promotes the American Inns of Court Diversity Policy. (Gold, Platinum)
• April 30—Program Development Process:  Document the Inn’s monthly program development process. (Silver, Gold, Platinum)
• April 30—Mentoring Outline: Submit an outline of the Inn’s mentoring program. (Gold, Platinum)
• April 30—Community Outreach: Submit a description of your Inn’s community outreach program. (Gold, Platinum)
• April 30—Joint Meeting: Document participation in and/or hosting of a joint meeting. (Platinum)
