NCC 2025: The Role of Lawyers in the Idea of America
Explore the Founding Fathers' vision for a new kind of country and the role played by the Bench and Bar. As part of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this program focuses on the role lawyers played in imagining and establishing a country ruled by the Constitution and laws and governed by the people themselves – the first of its kind. These advocates envisioned building a democratic society that would allow for civil discourse and the peaceful resolution of differences governed and supported by a legal foundation. The 2025 National Conversation on Civility looks at the role of lawyers and laws in founding and ensuring the continuation of our flexible yet fragile constitutional republic.
