MONEY TALK$ SO NOBODY WALKS: THE PERSISTENT FUNDING CRISIS I
This musical program examined the topic of indigent defense and the legislative reform attempts of the indigent defense funding system. Through a series of short vignettes, the program addressed the fictional case of Clarence Gideon who struggles to prove his innocence with the assistance of an overworked, underfunded indigent defender. The program paused after each vignette to discuss the foundations, strengths, and weaknesses of Louisiana’s system of indigent defense.
