The Linn Inn Alliance presents Distinguished Service Medals to those members from around the country and in Tokyo who have made outstanding contributions to the American Inns of Court over the last several years. Nominations may be made by reply email, identifying the nominee and briefly describing why the nominee is deserving of this recognition. The deadline for nominations is January 31, 2020. This is a wonderful way to recognize the special person in your Inn who has made a real difference in the success of your Inn over the past several years. The medals will be presented at the Linn Inn Alliance reception in New York, just prior to the NYIPLA Judges Dinner.
2019 Distinguished Service Medal Winners
Eiichiro Kubota, Tokyo Intellectual Property American Inn of Court
Mr. Kubota was one of the founding members of the Tokyo IP Inn and served as the president of the Inn in 2017. He substantially devoted his time and efforts to the Tokyo IP Inn and encouraged attorneys of his own firm to take part in the Inn and play important roles at the Inn. He is one of the key reasons the Tokyo IP Inn has been a success.
Hon. David E. Peebles, Intellectual Property and Innovation American Inn of Court
Magistrate Judge Peebles is a tireless volunteer in the IP and Innovation Inn. He attends almost every meeting, has played roles in nearly every presentation, knows each of the executive committee members personally, helps recruit new members, and showers each with gratitude for their commitment to the Inn. The IP and Innovation Inn operates over the entire Northern District of NY, principally Syracuse and Albany, while presents some interesting logistical and technical challenges. Despite all of those challenges, Judge Peebles manages to regularly attend meetings, either electronically or in person. The IP and Innovation Inn was dormant for a brief period, but thanks to Judge Peebles, is now recognized as a Platinum Status Inn.
Charles Rones, Giles S. Rich American Inn of Court
Charles Rones has been not only a regular attendee at Giles Rich Inn meetings, but has taken it upon himself, at his own time and expense to create a photographic record of every Inn meeting I can remember.
William A. Streff, Jr., Richard Linn American Inn of Court
William A. Streff, Jr. is a leader of the Chicago IP bar and has been a supporter of the Linn Inn right from day one. He regularly travels to Japan and has been a supporter of the Tokyo IP Inn as well. And last but not least, he has enlisted the support of his firm, Kirkland & Ellis, in the activities of the Linn Inn in Chicago and in sharing the firm’s suite for the past several years and once again tonight.
Hon. Stacey G. White, Barbara M. G. Lynn American Inn of Court
Judge White serves as a Lead Administrative Patent Judge on the PTAB and is a member of the Barbara Lynn Inn in Dallas, Texas. She has held all of the officer positions with the Barbara Lynn Inn and is the most recent Past President. She was integral to the success of the Inn in obtaining Platinum Status recognition year after year. Additionally, she spoke at the Inaugural Texas IP Inns of Court Summit and has mentored many young attorneys interested in the Inns of Court.
